Here’s some tips on using Get A Handle On Your Camera

  1. -Keep the screwdriver with your spare batteries and the rest of your gear.
  2. -When you need to do a battery change, loosen, but do not remove the screw
  3. -Rotate the handle out of the way and replace your battery.
  4. -Rotate handle back into position & tighten screw.
  5. -There are two mounting positions on each handle. Try mounting your handle in each position to see which position you prefer. I prefer to have my hand closer to the camera, but your camera's mounting hole might determine where you are positioning it.
  6. -Use the included screwdriver to tighten the screw to your mounting hole on the bottom of your camera.
  7. -There are two washers and one extra longer screw included per handle. You might need to add washer(s)/screw to make handle connect firmly to your camera. You might need to switch screws to get a solid connection to your camera. Be careful to firmly tighten but not overtighten.
  8. -Using Get A Handle On Your Camera with small lenses all the way to 70-200 F 2.8 Lenses will be no problem! However, please use common sense if you are using really big lenses like a 300 F2.8 or heavy lenses. Obviously large, heavy lenses might need extra support as you are manipulating your camera as all of the weight of it will be transferred to the mounting hole & the rubber non slip on the handle.
  9. -The leather grip needs to be conditioned periodically with saddle soap or a leather conditioner. Saddle soap and leather conditioner can be picked up at your local box store. Doing so frequently, especially in the first month of ownership will make the grip soft & supple in your hand.
  10. -It is possible that the leather lacing needs tightening over time. Very easy! Simply get a pick tool and fish the ends out of the cover & push the tool through the square knot to undo the knot. Use saddle soap on cover to condition and make lacing slide easier on cover. With pick tool, start at the top laces, gently tightening each lace till you get to the bottom. Retie square knot & push ends back under cover.
  11. If you are using Get A Handle On Your Camera in COLD weather, you first need to attach the camera to the handle when the handle is warm & SET the camera to the handle. The handle relies on gripping tension on the rubber to hold on to the camera especially with long heavy lenses!
