I have been a Maui resident since 1994 & became a Pro Photographer in 1999. Primarily I do Luxury Weddings, Beach Weddings, Elopements, Engagements & Family Portraits to earn a living. For fun I chase all the Stunning Maui Scenery I can find as well as Maui Adventure Sports
I live on Maui's North Shore with my wife whom I married in 2019. When I married Cory, I became a step-father & a grandfather. Becoming a grandfather to Olivia is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received! Just after I married MY LOVE, the pandemic hit Maui really hard & all of the Hawaiian Islands completely shut down. Life here in Maui became very difficult, but somehow we survived! Since the pandemic, the economy and tourism slowly came back & Maui saw some light & prosperity! Thank goodness!
GET A HANDLE ON YOUR CAMERA was created because of Maui Wildfire's Disaster in Lahaina. Immediately afterwards 12 clients, which was most of my fall 2023 bookings & two large luxury weddings in the early 2024 canceled! This second major impact on my finances coerced me into bringing my camera handles to all my fellow pro photographers everywhere!
Maui forever changed on the afternoon of August 8th, 2023 when hurricane fueled winds ravaged 50-70MPH across super arid grasses with our beloved Lahaina Town directly in the CROSS HAIRS.
I was there that night when the disaster struck and witnessed it first hand from about a mile north of town. It was the worst thing I have ever experienced in my entire life!
Look closely at the above image taken just about midnight on August 12th & you see the ferocity of the wind and fire that was like a blow torch, towering hundreds of feet into the air. The wind shook the palm trees near me & sounded like a charging locomotive running at high speed. The fire raced through Lahaina at a mile a minute, torching everything in its path! In the distance every few minutes, you could hear huge booms that were actually gas tanks exploding, and the constant whine of fire engines racing in vain trying to deal with the runaway inferno.
I had very little communication with my wife that entire night, but she did know I was safe. In the morning the police lifted the roadblock on the north side of the island & I was able to drive home into her worried arms.

Ease of Use
This image was shot on a tripod that was at full extension high on a rockwall. I used Get A Handle On Your Camera as I scaled the wall, then I was able to maneuver the camera into position & connect it to the tripod, all the while securely holding my camera.
